Overview

Cheetah Plains is three private villas in the north-east of the Sabi Sand, and each one is booked by a single group. A villa has four en-suite suites for eight, its own heated pool, indoor and outdoor lounges, a dining room, a wine cellar and a boma.

Each villa comes with a chef, host, field guide, tracker and a quiet electric game vehicle. The architecture is glass, stone and concrete rather than thatch, and the property runs on solar. Mapogo looks over a busy waterhole.

Why we love it

We love how quiet the electric vehicles are at a sighting, and that your group sets the pace of every drive. It’s the Sabi Sand, so leopard sightings are a real hope.

Good to know

This is a malaria area. Speak to a travel clinic before you go, especially if you’re travelling with little ones.

The villas are unfenced, so wildlife wanders through. There’s a two-night minimum. Each villa sleeps eight; bigger groups could ask about booking two.
